James Matt has spent more than 15 years in the financial services industry. Prior to the formation of Pogson & Matt Wealth Management Group, he worked at Fidelity Investments in for 10 years.  While at Fidelity, James worked with the Private Access group as a Vice President & Senior Account Executive.  During his tenure at Fidelity, James helped his clients establish comprehensive financial planning solutions, estate plans, and income generation strategies.
Before moving to in 1999, James spent five years with Putnam Investments in .  While at Putnam, he worked with the Institutional Management Group as an Associate Investment Specialist responsible for designing investment products for their defined benefit clients. James also participated in weekly Global Equity stock selection meetings with Chief Investment Officers, senior portfolio managers, and global economists.
His background from both the retail and institutional side of the industry has given him a broad view on the marketplace.  James feels this is critical when considering the breadth of product solutions that are available to investors today. 
Outstanding client service is equally important in his view.  James chose Cambridge Investment Research Inc., as his broker/dealer because he felt the independent platform that Cambridge provides is a better platform to establish and maintain long term relationships with his clients. James believes that advisors should be very proactive and not reactive with their clients.  As such, he prides himself on building exceptional relationships with his clients and their families. 
James holds the Series 6, 7, 63 and 66 licenses as well as his insurance licenses.  He has also completed all required Certified Financial Planner (CFP) modules with the
In 1989 and 1990 James was selected by the United States Cycling Federation to reside and train at the Olympic Training Center in preparation for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.  When not assisting clients, James can still be found out on his bike enjoying the outdoors or spending time with his wife Deb and their daughter.
